James H. Smoot, an old and respected citizen of this township, died at the home three miles north of here on Thursday. Had he lived one day longer he would been 70 years old. His death was caused by a complication of diseaes contracted while in his country's service, he having served as a private in Co. K. 63rd Indiana Vols.
