Obituary for Chester R. Garner

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, May 12, 1960--page 12, column 2:

Chester R. Garner, resident of 110 North Green Street, Brownsburg, died Saturday morning in the Veterans Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been in ill health for the past two years.

He was born in Brownsburg Nov. 13, 1891, the son of Charles and Iva Patterson Garner. He was a retired mail carrier and had managed a pool room in Brownsburg for the past 32 years.

He was a veteran of World War I, member of the American Legion, World War I Veterans, Masonic Lodge, K. of P. Lodge and the Brownsburg Christian Church.

Services were conducted Monday afternoon in the Jones & Matthews Mortuary with the Rev. Stanley Melton, assistant minister of the Brownsburg Christian Church, officiating; Burial was in the Brownsburg Cemetery.

Survivors include the widow, Eva Lena Garner; a sister, Mrs. Doris Hall, of Delphi; two brothers, Otis (Bill) and Herschel Garner, both of Brownsburg.
